Selling requires several skills and competencies, but there are fundamentals that must be practiced daily to achieve consistency in the sales process. Here are ten principles that must be acted on every day.

  1. Purpose — It is important to define why you do what you do.

  2. Attitude — How you think and what you think about is 100% under your control.

  3. Planning — Most people don’t succeed in life simply because they don’t plan to.

  4. Prospecting — Every day you don’t prospect, the next day you will settle for a lesser degree of performance.

  5. Appointments — Set enough appointments to ensure that you will be able to make at least two new presentations every day.

  6. Presentations — Every day you should strive to make new presentations.

  7. Objections — They are a part of the sales process; learn to manage them.

  8. Closing — Helping people make decisions they probably wouldn’t make without you is a part of your role.

  9. Referrals — Once you make a sale you need to replenish that lead.

  10. Relationships — Building positive relationships is vital to building your sales success.
