YOU must make thinking a habit.
This week, I want you to think about the thoughts that run through your head at all times. About 95% of what we do every day is habit. To be successful on an ongoing basis, you must ensure that you have the correct habits of thought. How you think and what you think about has a profound effect on your future.
What does it mean to create a habit of thought?
Think about yourself
How you think about yourself is critical to your success. Whatever self-limiting thoughts you have about your ability to perform, achieve, produce, learn, and earn can easily become reality. Habitually limiting your beliefs about what you can do, become, and earn has a dynamic effect on the results you get.
Think about what you think
Problems and failure means thinking about what you do not want. Instead, think about what you do want and how you will accomplish it; now your energies are correctly focused. Average performers think about the challenges and reasons they can’t accomplish their goals, but top achievers only allow themselves to think about what they want and how they will accomplish it.
Think about choosing the right thoughts
How we think determines what we do; what we do over and over creates our habits. Whatever the habit, the choice is ours. Choose how and what you think about. It has been said for thousands of years, by everyone from great teachers to great preachers: “We become what we think about.”
Remember these keys to creating the right habits of thought:
You have total control of your thoughts.
What and who we read and listen to shapes our thoughts.
Write out what you want to do and be, read it daily, and see yourself that way.
We are what we repeatedly do.
We are free to choose our thoughts, and then our thoughts choose our actions. Our actions create our future.
