You can avoid the lack of self-discipline that causes failure.

Most successful people will agree that when it comes to being successful, talent and education matter, but they do not guarantee success. One of the master keys to success is one’s ability to discipline himself or herself to do what must be done in order to succeed.

What does it mean to have self-discipline?

It means knowing both “how to” and “want to.”

It means self-managing.

It means wanting to succeed.

How-to and want-to
The “how to” and “want to” are essential. Knowing how to sell effectively is important, but without diligence and a determined will, knowledge alone is worthless. Only those with the “how to” and the “want to” will do great things.

The ability to self-manage ensures the right things will get done. It is only with self-discipline that a person generates the strength of will to do what needs to be done, when it needs to be done, whether he or she wants to or not.

Wanting to succeed
The person who wants to succeed . . . will. Only with the capacity for self-discipline can a person who desires success have it. It is the deep desire of the “want to” that will empower a person to do what he or she “has to.” The question is, “Do you have the ‘will to’?”

Remember what Ray Kroc and Brian Tracy said about self-discipline”

Find out what it is you want and then pay the price in self-discipline to get it.

Everybody does the things successful people do occasionally. Top people do these things all the time.
