How Can You Stand Out in Your Market?

March 1, 2019 by Gary O'Sullivan Leave a Comment

As you start watching this short video, you’ll probably be wondering, “Why in the world are we looking at vegetables?” The answer is that for one business I visited recently, vegetables — or rather, something special about these particular vegetables — are major ingredients in its success.

Transcription of Video Below

I know what you’re thinking. Why in the world are we looking at vegetables? Well, we’re looking at vegetables because we’re going to talk about a concept right here.

This is a unique restaurant. I’m in New York. That was the palisades you saw over there just a moment ago and the Hudson River. The Sun is pretty strong, so it might have been a little hard to see, but this is called the Harvest on the Hudson. Great food! But you know what, a lot of these plants I just showed you – the basil and tomatoes – they grow them here. They’re all natural, and they use them on their food.

You talk about farm-to-table; this is like patio-to-table; it’s like right over there; it’s amazing. But it really sets them apart. It’s just great experience; it’s unique. They’ve got these gardens; you can eat out in the middle of them. It’s unbelievable. It really makes them a unique business.

Now, here’s my question, what is it that makes you unique as a business? Have you figured out something you can do that will make you unique? This is very unique, and it’s very special. You talk about fresh. I don’t know if they could take it back and wash it when they’re cooking your order, but one thing I know is that it’s very unique; the food is excellent; the atmosphere is great. The Hudson helps them out a little bit, but this is amazing.

How about your business? Are people talking about it being amazing? Are they doing videos about your business being so amazing and so unique? What can be that differentiating factor for you? What can be unique about you? You say, “Well, I don’t know; there’s not much we can do different.”

Did you ever think a restaurant would be growing their own vegetables right outside and you can even eat in the middle of the garden? Well, maybe other places do it; I’ve never been there; I’ve just been here. So, why don’t you do something unusual and different to make your business better!
